ixus v2- small movie recording time

ixus v2- i just got myself a 512 compact flash card to record and edit small movies on my canon camera using the movie mode. i was displeased to discover that the recording time for some reason limits itself to around 10 seconds for the lowest resolution movie and an dismal 3 seconds for high res ! If anyone can shead some light on why this is happening and whether it is the camera or the CF card to blame, id greatly appreciate it. thanks

Well, according to the manual, "the maximum length of a movie clip (at approximately 20 frames / sec.) is approximately 4 seconds (640), 10 seconds (320) or 30 seconds (160)..." (p. 56).
