OK... More speedway from tonight and the chance to try a few different things after last week's first attempt.

A fishy view of the pits...

A very happy Leigh Lanham interviewed by Sky Sports...

Some racing in the gloom...

And the venue before the meeting - not as bright as it looks...

looks like a fun event to cover, you obviously have free roam of the place exemplified by the pit shot, the extremely tight cramped pits at that.

#3 is great...almost like it was staged how perfectly they were lined up. if only the last guy would have been looking forward and down like the first two instead of just down, then it would be perfect symmetry.

i also like the interview shot, tells the story well. hands on hips still mounted on the bike shows he just finished running and the little smile tells me that he did good.

looks like a couple of the shots were from the outside, yes? no? i can see progression in your shots from your first little practice session, better color, more evenly lit, and expect these photos will look as amazing as your football photos by the time the summer is through...good stuff gavin. will hope to see some every week.

Thanks very much 3oh6 - it certainly was more fun shooting this week as I had more of a grip on the settings.

You're right that a few of the shots were taken from outside the track - I used the 135mm f/2 for this - I think I prefer this angle to shooting from inside the bend. When shooting from the outside it's vital to remember to duck behind the barrier when the riders go past, otherwise you end up showered in grit and gravel!

I can't wait for a few weeks time when the available light will have improved. There is potential to shoot down the straights from the outside with the 300mm f/2.8 or even with the 1.4x extender attached. This will also improve the panning potential - panning shots at such a close range with the 85mm f/1.8 are deadly difficult.
