So I was wondering if you could help me out. I am getting married in April and I am picking out my tuxes. I was wondering if it would look weird if I had my groomsmen in bow ties and vests (colors to match the bridesmates.) Then I would be in a black bow tie and cummerbund. Please let me know what you think! Thanks!

Sounds like a good way to stand out. I don't see why that wouldn't work out. You and your bride should work out a nice color that would allow you to stand out more. Obviously she's going to be wearing a solid color dress, whether it be white/creme/beige.
If she were to wear something in her hair or just something of a different color, you can probably wear a tie or a cummerbund that matches that little item. Something like that. It could totally be whatever you want and it should work out well. Good luck

I think you should wear a bit more then a cummerbund and bow tie.. what if its chilly? what if there are kids there? In all seriousness, its up to you and I think its a great idea. I did all vests at mine, but did a different color for me.

Sounds perfectly fine to me. Do what makes you happy. It's your wedding. Congratulations!

In this day and age it's whatever floats your boat. I did a wedding last year where every bridesmaid had a differnet color and style dress on. Talk about clashing in the photographs. Congrats and best of luck!

If they were a bright color and you're in black will they stand out more than you?

I'm a wedding photog - but I also own a bridal boutique. So, I have a great perspective on this...

It is incredibly common to do something so that the groom is set apart from the rest of the groomsmen. Often the GM's will match the BM's color, and the groom will where a white tie and vest. Or a black tie and vest. Some will even wear a different style of tux than the rest of the GM - same colors, but different cut.

I'm thinking you should be happy that your adoring fiance will even let you pick them out. :)

Be nice to your photographer and get a tux that is 18% grey. :D

haha. I have a great photographer that will make it fun! I was going to get them the blue tux that tomd posted!

Yeah I know that I am lucky to have a bride that is letting me pick. I wouldn't have it any other way tho. I have seen to many grooms in some pretty ridicules looking tuxes. Thank you all for you help!
