I'm dying guys!! My 20D started to get the ERR 99 message a bunch yesterday and I didnt do anything any differently. Luckily it's under warranty but I just sent it in to get it fixed. I'ts very new and I have no clue why it started doing this. It was locking up allot yesterday. I cant afford to have it crap out at an important event. I'm missing it so much what am I gonna do? Please say something to make me not cry!! whaaaaaaaaahhhh whahhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... Actually I'm getting a new one because the company I bought it from told me to just send it back and they will replace it !! It has been less then a month.. It was weird, the shutter would get stuck and the err 99 messega would flash and I couldnt get it to stop unless I took the battery out and put it back in. The camera would then start to work for a whilebut it seemed eventually it would start locking up again. It did this with 2 different canon lenses including the kit and the 1.8 prime..

You were right to send it back. A camera that new shouldn't have problems. With luck they'll resolve it quickly and send you a new one.
Condolences.

Welcome to the wonderful world of electronics.
If it works for the first while, it will likely work close to forever, if it fails shortly after starting you need to replace it!
Get the new one.
Figure that the people at Best Buy are offering the extended warranty at a value that allow 1 in 25 to fail and be replace outright. Then they need their rediculuse profit level to cover their low sales profit. So maybe 1 in 50 to fail?
Odds are in your favour the replacement will be fine.
Does that help calm the nerves a little?:-}
