Would any of these work as a portable power source for some AB's?

AB's require a 'pure sine wave' and I don't believe anything on your above list has that

Unless you're going to DIY a power inverter and know how to do it correctly and safely, the only choices currently available (and someone can correct me if I'm wrong) are the PCB Vagabond II and the Tronix Explorer.

Why do folks always want to make their own vagabonds?. Why $299 for vagabond is too much? Reason I say is this question keeps popping every day on most forums. If it was easy way to do is cheaply, folks will already be doing it.

Sure there is. A passive induction + capasitor filter will do it. The probem is that with such small frequency it is not economically prudent. you can buy a sine wave invertor for less money.

It is not that $300 is too much; it is that you get too little power from Vagabond.

This (http://www.amazon.com/Sunforce-11240-1000-Pure-Inverter/dp/B000WGNNUQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1233361334&sr=8-1) would be a much better unit but you would need to provide the battery.
If you can connet it to your car I would definitely recommend it over Vagabond if you need more power.

Papa, I too am looking into producing a better option to the Vagabond II battery pack just because the power output seems to be too low.

What are the other benefits to this Sunforce 11240 made you choose it as another option?
