View Full Version : Olympic style ski jumping - first attempt!

First of all, let me say that I never knew that Chicago had a ski jump even though it's been there for over 100 years! About 1,000 enthusiastic spectators were there despite the high temperature barely making 12 degrees F. Jumpers were there from across the USA plus Poland and Russia. Even when standing amongst the crowd you would find yourself standing next to someone speaking Russian, or Norwegian. It had a very international feel. Not necessarily my 'best' pix, but just to give you a flavor for what happened today in a sport not familiar to most. ;)

where exactly is this? i grew up in chicago and I didn't know about this!!!!! so bummed! great shots by the way.

Fifth one would do, but with much much tighter cropping. And I like last one, since it's a bit different. It's pretty cool idea :)

Quick sample from tonight.

TOUGH! conditions - low light, foggy, snowing. Had to run max ISO, low shutter speeds. Will post more after I get some sleep.
