I know Canon had a rebate running over Christmas time. I am interested in buying a new camera and some other equipment with in the next few weeks and I am curious to know if anyone has heard any rumors about up coming rebates that may be coming soon? After all who doesnt want to save some money right?

didn't the prices go up because the rebate is over? basically the prices are now at their normal pricing.

Nope, the rebates ended and then they raised prices on top of that

The next batch of rebates will not be too far off. Last year I think they started on May 17th. Well maybe that is kind of far. besides, Last year they raised prices right before the rebates came out. Adorama has refurbs if you want to buy now. I have a feeling those prices will be going up soon as well.

I don't get the rebate thing at all, I ordered a 70-200 2.8 IS and tried to get the rebate
from B&H, no go, so I called to make sure I was getting one with an 09(UX) date code, also a no go, so I cancelled my order. I was under the impression these rebates were to clear old stock apparently it does't work that way. I guess I will buy used.

Hi
As far I understand, the rebates where already reflected on the price when you purchase from a authorized Canon Dealer like BH,
I actually emailed Canon Costumer service about the rebates and that was the response i got

This is correct.

The rebates are there to move the lens, that regardless of date.

I knew I missed out on the rebate when I ordered, but the date code
has a direct bearing on resale so this changed my mind. There are a
couple nice UW code lenses FS here for a couple hundred less than B&H
so I decided to go that route. xcept now I have to wait a few more days.:(
