How often do you go out to shoot some shots and never capture a image or even take the camera out of the bag? I estimate this happen 20-25% of my outings; nothing photo worthy.

It happened today but this was a bit different. I went out to shoot some bald eagles. I heard one but no sightings so not images made.

I bring my camera wherever I go, so yeah that happens very often.

It's rare that I don't find anything worth at least trying to shoot but it does happen some times...

you need to look harder at your environment. I don't think I've ever come back from a photowalk without at least a handful of shots that worked.

It happened to me once, but then i had forgotten to take the camera battery :P
Fortunately it was in a city garden.

Yeah, sometimes it happens to me. Things don't always work out and I don't get a shot at what I'm looking for, but I always learn from it, and almost always have an idea for next time. Some of my best work comes from returning to a spot over and over until things are right. I relate it to hunting or fishing, sometimes you just come back with nothing, it doesn't always mean your 'bad' at it.

I think there are always things to shoot around, you just need to train yourself to see them. I've never gone on a photowalk and come back without at least 1 shot that I thought was worthy...

If I'm out and feeling uninspired, I find I have to get the camera out of the bag and then FORCE myself to shoot a few frames. Get down on my knees and shoot some odd perspectives. Once I get a few shots in the bag (even if they suck), I find the creative juices start again and then it's easier to see things to shoot.
