Has anyone read this? I am about to purchase this and Digital Wedding Photography: Capturing Beautiful Memories by Glen Johnson.

I am open to suggestions. Thanks.

I've read it. It's pretty basic but its a good place to start.

I have the Glen Johnson book, and I enjoy it. If you're a beginner, like I was not to long ago it's a good read, but if you are experienced in wedding photography you might find there is not much new for you in it. However I do go back to every now and then.

I've got a couple of books, haven't read them much tbh. I found absorbing work and info from great togs more valuable. go through the forums and websites, find togs who inspire you. keep up with their blogs. even better if you get people on a forum like this who are talented, look at Bobby Earle or Lloyd Yoon.

Awww... thanks Gareth ;)

I was going to say the same thing, however. I found WAY more inspiration looking at awesome wedding photographers on this forum (there used to be many more, unfortunately - but there are still a few :)) and others. Just staredown awesome photos, throw them into an inspiration folder on your desktop, check 'em out every night before you go to bed, try implementing those ideas in your own shoots, and eventually you'll be a better photographer!

It wasn't long ago that I was asking the EXACT same question ;)

Hi Jo

I've just joined up and am surprised at the number of fellow Kiwi photographers on the forums.

I bought 3 books on wedding photography, (though for the life of me I cannot remember the names, and I'm stuck at work miles away from them!) and will admit that I struggled to get into them.

One was by Damien Lovegrove, and was full of little gems that took a bit of work to discover. (Admittedly I was put off at first by all the pics taken "With a Hasselblad H3 on a monopod lifted high above my head")

If you are a beginner like me I wish you luck. Did my first solo wedding 1 month ago, and I learnt so much afterwards!
But it was fun, and I'm hooked! It's such a kick to have a great bond with the couple and get to snap them on such an auspicious day, expecially if they're relaxed in your presence.
