I found them yesterday . . . and so today in the morning, I was waiting for them. I got some nice shots on the water and some in the fields. But the one I liked best was this one. A younger swan in the back spotted me first . . . and it just rippled to the front of the group, leaping into and then exploding into the air with some voicing their displeasure with me. Wings wishing with powerful strokes and beats as these 'big' birds transfer from water to air. it was just plain cool, as a bonus I only had to wear one coat today . . . loll.
I noted the stats on this one: ISO 400, 1/800, f/10 handheld on the pan. I figured since they knew I was there . . . no harm in standing up, so I am above them some.

Very nice capture. You can almost hear the wings beating and water splashing.

That picture would look good right above my couch in the living room. Very nice.

LOL your more than welcome . . . . there a a dozen Coots below and just marsh above so I cut the center out of it and made it just swans . . . I wish it looked as good here as on my Mac. You can see the beads of water on the feathers. Sometimes that long lens combo just does ok, I am getting better at the manual focus on the pan as well.

My photos ALWAYS look better at home on the big monitor than they do here on the Forum; downsizing them takes away from their natural beauty.
