This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new tricks when it comes to editing.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture that I choose, resized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 72hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #157".

This is all about having, fun so have at it!!!

Heres a shot of some Joshua trees I saw on the way from the grand canyon. Unfortunately it was taken from inside our tour bus as it stopped for only a minute. I did an old edit and would like to see what you guys & gals can do!

This game will end on Thursday January 29th at 12:10AM EST!

I tired to give it a older western style look.
-cropped
-levels
-tried to clone out as much of the window reflections as I could find.
-bleach bypass filter
-under exposed some areas such as the background mountains, part of the tractor and the dirt.
-added color to the trees.
-Color Stylizer Filter at a low opacity
-Ink filter at a low opacity
-added a slight vignette and border to give it a older look.

Heres my entry.:)
The first one as the entry and the 2nd one just for fun.

Levels
USM > Lab Color > Lightness Channel
Cropped
Bleach Bypass filter
Sepia filter
Overlay layer with 50% gray, made the dirt more red.
Then made the border using brushes.

The second one, had some coffee stain brushes that I applied.
Also duplicated layer, and warped it to make it look like it was burned. As well as the tear with the tape brush.

Reading the post above me, seems he used some of the same things I did.
Apparently we both saw the photo the same way as how to edit it. By giving it a "vintage" feel.
Looks good bittersweet.:)

Not sure if this is legal, but anyway, here it is.

Grayscaled pic and resized it. Opened tv watchers pic and cut out the screen merged the two pics and there you have it. NOt very hard I guess but it was a learning experience for me as this was the first time I've done something like this.

Thankyou all for trying an edit on my photo.

BitterSweet - Nice job! The color and vignette gives it an almost 3D look. It looks just a little dark on my screen however.

Ivoryplum - Very creative with the border and the color tones make it look how it felt....dry and hot.

frenchfx - Your pic is funny yet done seriously. I would like to know the plaid3 setting to try on my lucis.

mayerk- I'm not sure its legal either but its here. Were they just watching the martians land?

lavanut - this is something along the lines of what I would do with the photo. To my eye it could use just a bit more contrast though.

I think I am going to steer towards creativity for this contest since this was a boring photo - So, congratulations frenchfx!

Congrats frenchfx! That was a cute idea. I bet it made us all laugh!

MJA, I knew my edit needed something more, but I didn't have any more time to give it. I really wanted to try an infrared simulation, but I couldn't get it to work like I wanted. Still this was fun. It's interesting to see what other plugins/utilities folks are using to do different things.

frenchfx - Your pic is funny yet done seriously. I would like to know the plaid3 setting to try on my lucis.

**new pic is up **

I think I had it set at 35-40% and the slider around the half way point.
I may have also, after the plaid3, then used the plaid1 but I just can't remember. I have just started to use those features.
