The wife brought home some old pictures and stuff from her grandmothers today. I started to scan some of the stuff because it was so cool I had to share it. I have to clean these up still but I don't think I'm going to do that until I am done scanning.
She has mountains of this great stuff. I have to get through it will she is still with us and get as much of it documented as possible.
That some great stuff Eric. Looking forward to some more cool finds.

Vista print. Ick.
They don't do that any more, though. They got sued and were forced to stop. I had 500 business cards printed early last year via Vista Print. I had no complaints about the transaction.
Lonnie, nice rant. I think this shot also makes the fire engine look like a toy. Try the model processing on it....I'd like to see what it does.
I will. I just have to figure out where I want to set the focus on it. I have time to think about that, though. I just got started working on the pictures yesterday evening before I had to head to work, and the fire engine pictures are at the very end of the trip. I have about 120 or 130 to work through before I get to that one...
Do your dogs have to touch you when they are with you?
Minnie doesn't want to continuously be touching me, but she does walk over to me every five or ten minutes or so and give me a little bump with her nose.
I have yet to hear any purring tho
I seem to recall hearing somewhere that most kittens can't (or don't) purr. I have no idea where my remembery is dredging that up from, though. In any case, everything so far sounds just as should be expected. Every cat I've ever brought home acted like your two for three or four weeks in the beginning.
as soon as they trust you, start doing it weekly. My vet had me start on Calypso when she was a kitten and I can do her weekly but she doesn't like it. She'll sit still though because she's used to it.
Really? I've had cats for about 25 years now and I've never once clipped a cat's nails. That's what the scratching posts are for. The cats take care of it themselves.
Is your cache still active?
No. I put it on one of the summits near Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park, which I named Ashley Peak (that was the name of the geocache also). It lasted for about three years before it got muggled. It was shortly after that when that whole part of the park burned a couple years ago. So, if the muggles hadn't destroyed it, the fire would have anyway.
I liked that, Lonnie. I see Minnie was off leash and not running off. Does she do better in wide open spaces like that?
Oh yeah! I was going to ask about Minnie being off leash as well!
She's been improving over the past month or two. A lot! It's almost scary how much she reminds me of Ashley these days. I just might make a hiker out of her yet. She still has her urges to run, but she does respond to her name when I call her (usually grudgingly). So, when I'm walking her off leash, I tend to just call her name a lot. She also knows what "Slow down!" means, but it usually only lasts about five to ten seconds before she's back up to speed again...
Actually, we could not come to consensus on the bidet and so have an out door restroom. Second tree to the left. Leaning building thingy with a crescent moon cut out. Can't miss it
And it has such a great view, too!

Our town doesn't have much variety in our 2 groceries so I go over to Rockford every two weeks. Woodman's is where I shop, they say it is as big as two football fields. Lots of variety and a bit cheaper than the other big one over there, Logli's. Though it lacks a fish counter and their deli is much smaller. I'm also on Cat's diet plan so it takes a bit more planning.

:o Thanks, but; I would like to shed a few more pounds, I'm almost at the top of my "ideal" weight, I'd rather be in the middle ground. What I really need to do is get to exercising, I let the cold weather deter that even though there are plenty of warm options around. I'd rather go with the free stuff like walking and biking.

I haven't been because I could sneak the heat up. I do have a sweater and long-underwear tanktop on today but I'm still cold. I don't think it's fair to have to wear long underwear to work inside. But, I guess the heat bill for last month was $45K so they're trying to cut back.

Yeah, it costs us a bunch at home too...about $400 a month. It sucks. We have been keeping it at 67 in the past but with Ian I put it up to 70. It's still too cold I think. But, if I put the heat up any higher it gets super hot upstairs. At least at home I can wear sweats and a blanket.

Nice series, Eric. I really liked 13, 14, 16 and 17. I could see some cool b/w conversions on those.
And thanks for cleaning up last night. *slyly kicks shiny thing under toe kick of the bar, unnoticed*

A lot of folk shoot macro in MF and move the camera back and forth to achieve focus. A monopod or tripod helps.
Problem is that I'm wobbly enough that moving it back and forth happens despite my best efforts. Such is life, I'll save for a decent tripod soon.
Hi peoples of POTN.

He's super cute!
Heh. I saw somewhere about ice patrol... You should have seen the circus here.
Pretty sure I was part of that circus in a rear-wheel drive truck parked at the top of our lane and a toddler who's not heavy enough to bust thru the ice on his own......good times on carpool day.
Is ok ..Tiff :) do you dress in layers to help stay warm? My sis has a adversion to cold and once cold takes forever to warm up
Scarf. I swear by the scarves lately.
I haven't been because I could sneak the heat up. I do have a sweater and long-underwear tanktop on today but I'm still cold. I don't think it's fair to have to wear long underwear to work inside. But, I guess the heat bill for last month was $45K so they're trying to cut back.
YIKES!

Like most of the seasoned homes in Wisconsin.
Definition of seasoned is old piece of junk that costs $160,000 for an 1100 sq ft. home built in 1926 with bad windows and very settled insulation. Add asbestos/slate siding for fun.

Diane uses wood. My parents do too. We use fuel oil. We're going to do a lot of work when we remodel. Lots of insulation, rewiring, new windows, new furnace, new ductwork....it's going to be nice when it's done but suck until then. Of course, we have no firm plans for a remodel yet.

Yes, we heat almost solely with wood as our other option is an electric heat pump that is horribly inefficient. We have 2 levels (split level house) and 2 stoves...we use about $500 worth of wood a winter. That's from the time we need to heat until spring comes and we no longer need to heat. This year was SLIGHTLY higher as we bought 2 cords of wood split already...my husband's job switcheroo made it a little tougher for us to get it split.

Last year when I mentioned I had my thermostat set to 70, everyone in here thought I was nuts. This year I've been keeping it at 65, and it doesn't really feel any colder to me. And, my monthly gas bill has been less than half what it was at the same time last year.

I spent a summer stationed in Orlando, FL when I was in the Navy. Boy what that ever miserable! You could take a shower, then step out and immediately start sweating so badly you instantly needed another shower. That's just one reason why I don't care for Florida...

I wish I could feel comfortable at that temp. It'd be fine if I could stay wrapped in a blanky and curl up on the couch but there's no way that's going to happen with the boys.
I'm giving up for the rest of the day. I'm putting my coat on. I can't get warm.
The heat here is weird....it'll heat to the set temp and then, if it goes over, it turns on the cold air. Air is AWLAYS running. If it could be shut off, it'd be a lot nicer.

That's not right. The system in your house is different than the system in a school. The fan should blow for 1-2 minutes after the heat or A/C kicks stops. And that's it. If it running more than that your system has an issue with the shut off switch.
