Ok, I have a new firefox add on. I just tried it.

It's called 'MySmileys'.

It gives you a right click option to save any image. Then a dialog box will come up asking you to name it.

Then, when you are here, all you have to do is type the word that you used.

I mean, when was the last time you heard of a car calling 911, a cat pulling a drowning child from a rushing stream, a cat risking it's life to save another. Nope, it's not in their nature. They just sit there and think all day. "his arm looks tasty. When's he gonna die. I'm hungry."

It's the smiley add-on. I'm having the same problem now that I installed it.

I've been having a ton of problems with Firefox over the past few months, across various versions on many computers running XP and Vista. It's only been within the last few weeks that I've been able to narrow things down. I've always had tons of extensions installed, but the problems all started as each computer updated itself to Firefox v3, sometimes whether I wanted it to or not. Version 3 has been out for a while but I always refused to update it until the software gave me no choice.

Apparently v3 does not play well with extensions/addons. The worst was the executable version I have on my Sandisk Cruzer flash drive. It worked fine for almost a year, but when I switched desks at work (a month and a half ago -- also about the same time Firefox updated itself on the flash drive), Firefox would just shut down without warning within a minute or two of launching it. Completely disappear. There one second, gone the next. This morning I disabled all Firefox extensions on that flash drive except for a select few I just can't do without. Firefox didn't disappear on me a single time after that and I had it running for about three hours before it was time to head home...

Lonnie... where do you have your little gray laughing guy stored, where you get to him so quickly when you want him?

He's on my web server, of course. I currently have 914 smiley's at my disposal on my own server, and more than 6,000 of them on another flash drive (not the Cruzer) that I carry everywhere with me.

You want the laughing guy? His URL is: http://www.ldphotography.net/Smilies/rotfl.gif I use that one so much I can type out the entire URL, with BBtags in no time...

Swissair (RIP) MD-11 ;-)

I thought the MD-11 had a glass cockpit... One place I worked, I built the structural consoles for DC-10s that were being converted to glass cockpits.

Nah you got me beat there....though, I probably wouldn't mind sleeping under the #2 catapault if it meant being near the flight line during the day.

The closest I was able to get was the top of the island. GALLERY (http://johnwright.smugmug.com/gallery/3929157_ogZqJ#228381427_iBA2f)

Hey glow boy. :D ;)

I'm actually going to go back to bed. Maybe I'll take my laptop with me.

*trudges off with hot tea, and cold meds*

Sound like a plan... I'm tempted to do the same, but I have work to do and I need to go to the bank. I really don't want to go out on the bike today. It's too cold...

Great. Now we're all going to get infected...

Update on Mason...

He has pneumonia. :( They said the treatments that they have him on will work for that too though, and he is doing better today than he was yesterday.

Glad to hear that, Cat.

It was wonderful. We saw so many. And just had the best time. The photos don't do it justice. That camera does give you the ability to take photos underwater but it certainly doesn't give you good quality shots.

Always wanna see! Very cool birds :D

OoooooooooooooOOOOOO.........doitagain!

Nice shots Lisa

She is fine, you misread. She did not go to hospital that was another woman. Leyla did become one with the earth for a second but was spared injury by the soft ground

Cool I love turtles. Is this an aquarium shot or snorkeling shot?

oh, I'm glad it wasn't her. Sorry.

This was a snorkeling shot. We have some from above the water too but my favorites are below (only because of the memories).

Join the club....the cold/flu/bug has finally moved to my head and is getting out of my system. Other than that, I am fine and dandy thanks.

I think Lonnie mentioned it the yesterday, but I switched on the TV and caught the very last minute of a history channel show about Andersonville...all I could think of was you and your letter about Dan's great-great-great-great-grandfather (I am sure I have 1-2 too many in there). Did you get a chance to see it?

GOODMORNINGEVERYONEHi Lisa

dangit....I don't know if I'm going to be able to change the "floor" command to "off". He already responds well to floor. Off is so much better though.I point at the pup, say off, as I move my arm and point to where I want her to go, like you would a kid. Just do that and insert off for floor. If needed say them both or interchangeably. He will get it. Dogs are like 600 times more sensitive to tone and inflection. They listen more to that than actually understand words. On that note you can shorten your "no bite" to just no if you wish. They don't put words together like that.

Permagrin
12th of February 2009 (Thu), 13:42
well right now he's getting "off" things for treats..but this is the only time i'm going to do that (since I don't want him to get ON them to be able to get treats when he's off). I just wanted him to associate "off" with "off". It worked. Took about 20min and he was getting off things with "off".

Yeah treat training for off will get him jumping on stuff and waiting for the fun command "off".
They are smart, saying off in an angry tone and tossing his butt off should be enough. Just like kids he will understand he is doing something wrong by your tone. When he gets of, or is helped off, praise him with nice tone of voice and "good dog" You really want to work toward getting him to do stuff for YOU, not food. A happy voice showing he has pleased the pack leader is usually plenty of reward and much more powerful than food.

what about a clicker? you use that when he obeys a command, click the clicker, give him a treat. slowly and steadily, you stop giving the treat, but click the clicker when he obeys a command...then eventually he won't need the clicker either. Works for some people...

just food for thought
