With the birthday coming up, we thought about doing the Sears thing for formal portrait images. but my wife was up for the task, so we set up some lights and shot these. hope you like them. 5D2 was a joy to use. the detail is astounding, with ability to do a ton of cropping when needed.

These are fantastic! Definitely skip the trip to Sears.

We have that same wagon - my 4yo still loves it too.

Skip Sears. Use the timer on the camera and take your family pics. These are better than what you will get at Sears.

Last shot: get the full wagon or crop more either way, only a wheel is cut off now and it looks a little off.

yea, i totally agree, that i would also skip that trip to sears. These are great. She looks so happy and these seem to show off her true personality. Im not a fan of franchise portrait studios, im never happy with how their images turn out. Good job on these. (just a side note, on the picture with the magazine, there seems to be a few pieces of fuzz or something showing on the black background on the floor by the magazine. You can just clone it)

Thanks everyone. Sventlana, I like 5d2 a lot. The added features over the 5D are all very useful to me. the only thing I dont care about is the 3 inch lcd. It does not make much of a difference to me. However, the 3 custom settings, auto ISO, Microfocus adjustment, extra resolution, live view and vidoe are all fantastic.

Not only do you never need to think about going to Sears again, but can I come over with my three kids and have you take some shots of them with that 5D2? :)

Great shots +6 on skip the sears trip these are so much better with great personality showing through. plus the added benefit of being able to do it when your child is in a good mood and not on their schedule which usually doesn't coincide with your child's

thanks guys. very flattering. I agree that one of the problems with Sears is there is a small window, and if she is in a bad mood, it becomes harder to get good shots. One of my friends just had his done at Sears, and called me and said he was unhappy. I shot these on the same day, and now he wants to come early to the bd party for me to shoot some pictures......
I think she feels very comfortable at home, and I can more easily capture her personality than someone who does not know her as well. we really had fun doing it.

+23447238 on skipping the sears trip. You are better off shooting it yourself for the already stated reasons. I really Like these. #5 you can see some shadowing on the cloth that can easily be erased.

who would ever think about going to Sears with a 5D =).....

My wife did. While I was deployed she wanted to take our son to sears. I almost fell off my chair. I said something like "you are going to pay for pictures when there is 15K in gear in our house?" She took that shots herself with a little tutoring by me.

thanks for the suggestions. they do need to be cleaned up a little. I was happy that with most of these, other than whibal white balance and occasional cropping, not much needed to be done.

thanks kathleen and Cheetapita. My wife bought the wagon, I think from toysrus. I just printed one 8x12 at costco, and when I went to pick it up, they had a copyright release form for me to fill out and sign, a first for me. Ironically I have done enlargements of my wedding pictures (I bought all the digital negatives from my photographer) in the past with no problems.
I am generally a landscape photographer. I think one of my images might be the cover of landscape section of POTN book 3 (thank you to all who voted, whoever you are).
I have been however the admirer of the work of many great posters here, including Kristy, and Cheeta to name a couple. I also feel like there is a potn family, and there are a few kids on here we have all witnessed growing up.
