I recently bought the 20d and the 580. I have found that when shooting inside under mixed light, tungsten and flourescent, my images are very cold and blue. I have shot the nikon D2h before with the sb800 and under the same conditions find the images to be very yellow and red.

Is this a white balance issue? I use auto or flash wb, or is this an issue of exposure? I shot the attached photo, under toungsten light, I shot the photo at 800 iso @ 1/15 at f4. The flash was on ttl -1 stop.

I have thought about using gels to warm up the images, but am not sure what to buy? Any ideas.

I guess you know that your 20D can correct for all of that internally. You've already read page 50. Now read pages 53-55.

Ok, but how to you know how much to adjust or where to set the custom settings?
You just do it on the fly. I guess once you test it and find the right settings for flash, it's going to be the same most of the time, correct ?

My initial thought was to put a gel on the flash... to bring down the flash temperature.

Yes. It is clearly a wb issue. When shooting indoors with mixed lighting I do either a custom wb or set my shutter speed fast enough to eliminate or minimize the contribution from ambient light and set the WB to flash or auto.
