Haven't shot any hockey in over a year and I forgot how tough this sport can be to shoot. Fortunately, the rink I used to play in has gotten some serious work done and the lighting was great (can you believe I said great lighting in the same breath as HS hockey?). I just started editing images from the game and before I get too far down the path, I was hoping for some crit on exposure on WB in this image since they are all very very close to this. I actually must have bumped the shutter since I was at 1/500s/2.8/1600 all night (except for this at 1/400s for some reason). Anyway, does this look good on others monitors? Thanks. Rusty on hockey for sure but I plan on shooting a few more games. FYI, this was through the glass. I did shoot some from the team bench as well but the TTG one's were the toughest.

Scott:
Looks good to me. One caveat...I am presently viewing this on my laptop, which tends to be a touch brighter and bluer than my better calibrated desktop monitor.
Cheers!

Looks good. Looks like you shot it with a 300 2.8 -- ? am I close? (I shoot hockey and love the 300 for great crisp shots!)

I think it looks very good especially through the glass, however I notice the white is a little off. This being said, is the blue - blue or more of a shade or purplish?
I tweak from my end...here you go!

thanks guys, really appreciate the help. The blue is pretty blue, not too purple and I like the edit. Did you bring that channel down a bit? I shot this with the 70-200 but did use the 300 as well. I was very disappointed with my performance to be honest but it happens I guess. While the light was good, the shooting was tough as my AF just struggled with the contrast. I think it was the bright unis and ice combo but I also think I messed up a bunch. I noticed at one point that my prefocus was set on the 300 (duh! I know better than to make those kinds of errors) and I also had a tough time from the bench since I had to handhold the 300 and straddle the two edges of the boards (where they meet at 90 degrees in the corner of the bench) to get above the players. I'd like to shoot from above but there's netting that run all the way around the entire rink. Guess that's just life, huh?

Scott - nice shot ....
I think you're all right - but Magic has deepened the colour a bit. Yours is on but shows the effect of going TTG. Magic has made your shot look like it was through a photo hole.

Looks good to me Scott. What color are the posts in that photo? They look a little orange on my monitor but I have a heck of a time getting reds to look right.
