In my searching around the web, I just found the QImage Pro software made by ddi software. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with the software and what your opinions are.

It seems to be a pretty comprehensive image printing solution, but I'm frankly pretty ignorant of Colour spaces and 'getting the most from my printer'. It doesn't appear as though they have an ICC color space for the Canon S40, what would the best color space for me use be? I'm also not sure about how best to set up my printer. I have a Lexmark Z42 and it's reporting itself asa 600dpi printer, however I thought it was more like 2400 dpi.

If anyone has any information on this product, or can help me set it up to work best with my camera and printer, could you please share your knowledge with me? Thanks!

I have used QImage for the last three years, free upgrades make it better every year.

Before you start worrying about color spaces and color management, set your printer to auto (not photoreal or vivid...just plain auto) and see what you get.

For all my digital photos from S40, I use a global unsharp mask (radius 1, 100%) filter to make the photos pop off the page sharp.

I'm playing with color spaces and color management right now and cannot say that I have been able to create a printer profile (using Prisim Profile) that is better than the auto setting on my printer (with about +10 saturation selected in the printer driver).

I'm also playing with color management for the camera, but I'm not at a point where I know if it is good or bad.

There is an interesting difference in the basic prints from Arcsoft Impression and QImage. The Arcsoft prints look more saturated and higher contrast but I can't stand the interface. QImage makes page layout a breeze.

Worth the money in my book.
