so

time to decide who wins this week challenge

not an easy task, all good entries, I will be brief but congrats to all participants

I had a hard time choosing between my final 4 who are:
monty28428's Bread Basket
marco_30D's Silent river
dilorenzo1954's Taking The 8:15 To Nowhere
and
lavanut's Vacant

so now for the winner: lavanut's - Vacant

and a tie in 3rd - dilorenzo and marco

lavanut,
Congrats, your Vacant Eggs! They were my favorite I even liked it better then mine (don't quote me on that!) Were they true shadows or was it done in software?

Cool! I was fluctuating on that entry and one other one which I'll stick up here later. I'll post the new challenge tonight after I get home from work. I can't digress too long from what pays the bills.

Yes, studio lights with real reflections on glass. The only real tweaking done was to erase the slight line in the back where the glass ended. I converted to b/w in PP as well. I paid close attention to lighting on this since it was one of the goals of the shot!

Nice pix all! I feel honored to have won against some great shots. That 9/11 shot still tugs at the heartstrings though, and I've never been to NY...

Hey all! New challenge is up:
http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=640377

I hope you have fun with this one too. Something a few weeks ago gave me the idea. I'm looking forward to seeing the pix but not judging!

For fun, this was my 2nd choice for this challenge. I first made a disk to split the glass on the right, but after it didn't work like I wanted, I ended up creating the effect in PS. That was pretty easy with a little planning. I thought you might get a kick out if it tonight. Its title:
Half Empty or Half Full?

Half Empty or Half Full?

when I'm asked that question, I always reply this:
"what were you doing? filling it or emptying it?"
if filling then it's half full, if emptying it's then half empty... ;)
