My first time shooting something like this.

50mm 1.8

all shots taken at 1.8 and either ISO 3200 or 1600

Any comments on my composition and cropping would be greatly appreciated (as well as anything else ov course) I just sort of went with what I thought looked good as far as the cropping goes but I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to that.

As far as the actual shots themselves... well the bar was about 20 feet by 20 feet so I was pretty limited with my 50mm lens, but I needed the speed....

Anywhooo....

Let me know what you like, what you don't like and why... thanks guys...
I learned a lot that night but I'm sure I'll learn some more after a few replies.

edit##### oh yeah, and they were all manual focus. My first time using nothing but manual.

Is cool, although maybe it's the WB that seems to be off? None the less, a good catch.

Many of them could have used a touch more DOF.
Very nice!

At concerts and such, i perfer to use a less steep angle to the stage, so you wont worry so much about DOF.

My comments would also be regarding DOF, but I don't neccessarily think you need to increase it, just be aware of where it's at. In some shots you've just about captured the guitarist's face and picking hand in focus with the neck of the guitar and background/foreground blurred. I think that's a nice effect. It can draw your eye between the musician and his instrument.

Yeah, I took more time then usual on each shot, but I still need to take even more time. Sometimes I feel like i'm in a hurry when i'm taking pictures :-(

I agree with the above the poin of focus is off on most of them , I really liked #8184 thought you got that one.
