POWERSHOT A40 SETTINGS

Anyone wishing to take pictures of outdoor Christmas displays can try the following settings. I would then like to know what your results were like.

Photographing a large outdoor Christmas Tree with white lightbulbs.

Shooting Mode - Program AE
Tv (Shutter Speed) 1 sec.
Av (Aperture Value) 3.5
Metering Mode - Spot
Image Quality - Fine or Superfine (Doesn't matter)
White Balance - Daylight
AF Mode - Single
Active AF Points - Centre

Try the above first and then change White Balance - Cloudy

The Daylight and Cloudy settings have the effect of boosting the
orange, yellow and red parts of the picture. Whereas a White Balance
setting of Tungsten adds a blue cast to the picture making it look
really cold. Time taken : 5pm, December 11. Dark.
