Alright so I have this little gig going on and I wanted to get your thoughts and perhaps some advice on branching out. I shoot weddings but not in the traditional sense. There is no bride and groom private photo shoot. I just show up when ever the client asks me to and shoot for however long they want me to stay. Basically I just capture the mood of the event. I get some goofy shots as well. Then I download all of my images onto the clients computer ( about 1700) and then I wash my hands of the whole ordeal. If they want retouching down or anything edited they call me back for an additional fee. I get about 15-20 dollars an hour. Not traditional right? Anywho I see a lot of posts regarding high school and collage contracts...how did you make those contacts? How does something like that work? Also I am only 19 will I be taken seriously?

Note: I know I do not [I]really[I] have a sports lens I was just curious.

Wow, interesting business model. Sounds like you're real PJ though, which is interesting. For extra cash I see no harm to put a little extra cash in your pocket, but there's no way i'd show my crap shots or any shots without processing, which does take time that you'd have to charge for.

Not sure how to answer your questions though.

You can file a FOIA (or the state equivalent) request and get a copy of whatever contracts the district has with other studios. At least this is the case in most states and municipalities. That gives you a starting point...

Also, most school districts require open bidding before committing to a contract. So, I'd contact the superintendent's office to get details on the process. Odds are they'll point you in the right direction for more information.
