I got My grip for the XT - I think it adds just the right amount of weight and size to the XT. My question is to save room in my bag can I store the AA's in the the adapter or will it somehow discharge them?

Best of all it gives you a place for your pinky - the charlie horse I was getting was killing me ;)

How much did you pay for it. I though the prices on Adorama & B&H were kind of high. I might wait until I can pick it up on the used marketplace. Over the past week, I've gotten used to my XT and don't really have the complaint I did initially. That's interesting, heh?

I was afraid it would be awhile before the price would come down or used ones show up.
And that pinky was getting more and more bent up!!
I bought it at Adorama for 143.00 and since I was ordering a bunch of other stuff there really wasnt that much shipping for 2nd day.

Adorama internet purchase: $149.95 + shipping
Amazon pre-order: $199.99 + shipping
local Ritz: $179.99, but they have to order it
B&H shows a similar price to Adorama, but it's not available yet.
Adorama looks like a good price to me; mine is on the way. I think this item is way too new for any major price cuts...especially considering that only a couple of places even have it in stock.

Pradeep, I thought you were on the BG-E3 bandwagon?

I got mine today. Feels pretty good so far. I'd take a picture of it, but I only have one camera. ;)
If you're curious, I got it from http://www.simonscamera.com based in Montreal, Canada. They're selling them for $159.95 CDN.

Anybody try pulling on the right side to see if you lose power?
I know, I know, I'm bitter about the crappy 20D grip and want you guys to be miserable too. ;)

Ovi, the fit tolerances are good; no unexpected behavior.

The grip provides the necessary heft to make this set up feel manageable. The grip allows you pinky finger to secure the bottom of the camera on the front, and the palm of you hand by the base of the thumb joint on the back.
At this point, I don't anticipate ever taking the grip off.

lol a "mini grip".
I guess you can expect tall p&s cameras next.
Kurt, so I guess the rebel xt with a grip is slightly bigger then a normal camera with no grip? cuz that still looks pretty tiny.

Attention all ye "small" naysayers, go to your local shop and hold it. If you are turned off by its size, then don't plunk down your hard earned cash. It's like that old saying, "If the camera fits, shoot it." :)
The size of the camera with the grip works for me, and I recommend the purchase.
Reason for posting? I've learned so much from this forum, I'm trying to give back information as one of the early XT purchasers. The point I'm trying to help people with in this thread (and in another http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=61713 ) is that they may not be satisfied with the XT & large lenses without the grip. Hope this point is not lost.
Respectfully submitted by your humble XT (w/ grip) shooter.

I am but I've got a wishlist that includes a 70-200L and maybe a Pelican case before I get to the BG-E3....probably next month. ;)

Pradeep-
70-200L f/4, f/2.8, or f/2.8 IS?
I recommended the 70-200L f/2.8 IS to a friend who is shooting gymnastics indoors. Of all the gym parents with lesser gear, he's the only one able to capture images in modestly lit gyms with his 300D.
Hope there is enough left over in the budget for the BG-E3 to go along with the new lens. ;)

Naawh...I don't earn money with my camera, so it's going to be the 70-200 f/4. :(
But you never know....I may upgrade as time goes along. :)
