I've decided on either a Stroboframe Press-T or Pro-T but I'm not sure which would work better. It appears that the primary difference between them is the height (2.25") and weight (3 oz.). I'll be using it with a 450D/XSi with the BG-E5 battery grip, the 580EX II, and the OC-E3 off camera cord.
It also appears that a different Anti-Twist Plate is necessary if you are using the battery grip.
I'd appreciate any feedback from owners as well as any other recommendations or suggestions. (I can't afford the RRS stuff!)

The Pro-T will allow you to better center the flash over the lens in the portrait orientation when using a grip. If you weren't using the grip, then the Press-T would be OK, too.
Sorry, I can't help with the Anti-twist plate since I don't have the same camera as you do.

For whatever it may be worth I just purchased a used Press-T on eBay for $11.50. shipping was more expensive than the bracket. It took about a month of waiting and sniping before I was able to land one though.
I really can't say that having the flash DIRECTLY over the lens is critical. I mean... think about it... a grip adds about an inch or so, maybe a little more? It just seems really counter-intuitive to think that such a minuscule offset will have an observable impact. I'd have to see a side by side comparison by someone before I'd really take the possibility seriously.

Well, I didn't see a deal that good, but I just got a brand-new Pro-T on eBay for $64.99 + $12 S&H = $76.99. Amazon or Adorama price with S&H = $89.99.

I received the Stroboframe Pro-T that I bought on eBay. It is brand new and appears to be sturdy with good quality.
Unfortunately, there is no way that it will work with my XSi with the BG-E5 battery grip as the bottom bracket makes it completely impossible to reach the shutter release on the battery grip when used vertically. The whole reason that I wanted a rotating flash bracket was to be able to use it vertically with the battery grip!
