I thought this was a cool product, might be helpfull to those of us that don't have a laptop. Apparently, it will read 8 diff kinds of memory cards, and burn your pictures straight to cd. It only burns at 24x, but heck, that isn't terrible considering it can be had for around $300, which is alot cheaper than a good laptop.

With a 1-gig card, it would be a pain to burn to 800MB CDs.
My biggest concern, though, would be having the ability to view the pictures from the storage medium to ensure that they transferred successfully. I'm waiting until some shop somewhere (that I feel comfortable doing business with) has the Epson P2000, and then buying that since I'll be able to view the pictures and ensure they have successfully transferred before formatting the card for more picture taking.
More expensive, but with such a large viewing screen and terrific reviews, it will also serve very nicely to bring my pictures to show my 85-year-old mother in the nursing home. Using the video cable from the 20D to put the pictures on her TV is alright, but very far from being crisp enough for my satisfaction.

Looks like a pretty cool device but looks a little too bulky to carry around.
As for verification, I agree with dhbailey because the data is more important. I currently use use the PD7X and it is not as sophicated but it does have the verification mode which is really important. I personally when taking photos on the road don't want to spend time checking individual photos.

I've got the Addonics MFR (http://www.addonics.com/products/mfr/aemfr842d.asp), which burns DVDs as well as CDs. It also hooks up to the TV so you can view your pictures either from the card or from the CD/DVD. USB 2 for connecting to the computer as well.
