Just got new 10-22 Ef-s lens....looks out of focus or not sharp or? . This is a 100% crop comparing my 18-55 kit lens with 10-22 lens @ 18mm.on tripod...300D camera. What's up?

It is out of focus, is it consistant and reproducable? If it is I would send the lens back and ask for a replacement, assuming it is still returnable.
