Hi guys, I need some advices. I own 5D and 580EX, and I am looking for one more flash to use as a slave unit only. I know the safest way is to go for another 580EX or 430EX, but is there any other cheaper choices with similar quality to Canon one?
P.S. Any one have experience using Nissin Di622 as a slave?

If you want ETTL, then get the 430 or 580EX. If you don't mind all manual settings, then get any flash with manual controls and your choice of triggers. Vivitar 285 is a commonly used one.

Thanks for reply!
That means all non-Canon cannot preform ETTL while being slave?

No. Metz makes a E-TTL compatible flash and I believe that Promaster does also. I don't believe... however... that they are that much cheaper than the 580EX II. If you want to save real money you have to move past E-TTL.

i have no experience with the Nissin Di622 as a slave, but it should perform ok.
I am currently using a Sigma 500 as slave, and it works ok.

Thanks guy! Does Nissin Di622 perform E-TTL when using as slave? It is half-price of 430EX and it looks pretty well built (to me), that's why I am interested. Could be wrong....
How about Sigma 500? I have to check its price anyway.
