I have a problem. Here are the details. I have 750 pics totalling 360 mb on my computer under My Pictures on Windows XP OS. Well before i did a system recovery I could click on th My Pictures icon and the pics would load up in about 3-4 seconds. Well after doing a system recovery I have the same pics on the computer and they take anywhere from 7-30 seconds to load now. I have not installed any large programs on the computer. it is a P4 1.8ghz, 30/50 gb hard drive w/ 512 mb ddr ram. can anyone help me. If anyone needs more info please let me know as i am getting really frustrated over this. Thanks

You may have already done this... but defragment the hard drive that you restored. When writing large amounts of data, your hard drive often splits files into tiny pieces and scatters them all over the hard disk. When you defragment it, you're just moving every piece of your picture folder all into a condensed area on your hard drive. That way, your computer can display your picture folder in one fell swoop

start > all programs > accessories > system tools > disk defragmenter

Gook luck, i hope this works for you.

I agree - and be patient, since a hard drive of that size could take a few hours. I recommend first exiting any open applications, turn off any antivirus software, as well as screensavers, and set powersaving settings on the monitor and hard drive to "never".
