Just curious.. what happened if we use 50mm f1.8 wide-open on it's shortest focusing distance? for example taking close-up on a person (really close-up, framed on the person's head).
Do we will get a blurry images? just because it's wide-open and focus very near, that cause the DOF very narrow? or do we will still get decent (even not so sharp) image?
Thanks a lot.

I'd say give it a shot and see what happens...

Yup, I already did, but that was the cause I writing this.. since I get the blurry one. So confuse.. is it normal?.. or something wrong with the lens?

Depth of field is .2 in at 18 inches from subject with your lens wide open. That's 1/2 the width of a CD jewel case.

The 50mm isn't too sharp at 1.8, so I wouldn't bother using it below 2.8 anyway!

I took this image last week. I was at the closest focusing distance for the lens.
