Is the first one intentionally horizontal?

The 2nd one looks really soft and might need a little contrast boost. Of course please note this is coming from someone who does not know much.

yes, i put them in my frame like that...it's not cropped. i put the important points on the thirds.

the more i sharpened it up it tended to look creepy and i did not want that.
