So my Stroboframe and offf shoe cord came in this morning overnight delivery. It all works well except Moments what you were mentioning about the orientation... why on earth is it setup and shown the other way? Shooting portrait mode with the Stroboframe in default position renders the battery grip vertical controls useless!?!? Why would anyone want it configured this way. Surely we're missing something here! And then as you mentioned, there are no holes in the area needed to allow clearance for your hand and the CF door.

Ideally it makes sense to have the frame in default position so you can hold the camera by the handle with one hand, and shoot with the other. With it swapped like you suggest my hand will be constantly rubbing against the frame as I shoot, and the grip is useless.

Is anyone using this thing in default configuraion? How are you taking portrait shots?

So confused!

Which Stroboframe bracket did you buy? I am about to purchase one as well and found this post very interesting.

How about the photography group idea for DFW? You mentioned having access to TMS in the fall and I can't wait to have a look at your shots from the upcoming events.

Thanks,
J.D.

which model do you have. I use the Pro-T and it does not cause any problems in vertical position.

I have the 350 quick flip. I can move it to a different hole on the base, but it then puts the flash off center from the camera. I don't know how much an inch or two off center is going to effect my shots, but I'd rather it be as close to centered on the lens as possible.

Maybe I should have looked at the Pro T model instead. Thee quick flip was recommended by the camera shops as being the most common and they said it would do what I needed without getting too expensive... so we'll see what others are doing.

With the Pro-T the lens is centered over the lens in both landscape and portrait orientations and because of how the base is made it does not interfere with the vertical grip at all. I would check into it I have been using it for Weddings for almost a year now and I love it.
