Hi everyone! I hope I'm posting this in the right place.
I have to opportunity to buy a 1D classic with 68K clicks, a 170-500mm Sigma, 2x tele converter, 5 camera batteries, and a camera bag for $1100.00 I've been doing some research and it seems like a good deal, but I'd really like to hear others opinions and advice.
Thanks in advance!

Whether this is a good deal or not all depends on your needs and wants.
Personally, I think this is a poor deal. This is a ten year old camera with 4 megapixels. I think you'd be better off spending the $1000 on a brand new Rebel and getting a bargain lens. I don't think that Sigma 170-500mm is anything particularly amazing anyway. Are you trying to shoot birds or something?

A "1D classic" is still an excellent camera. Used ones can be had in the $450.00-650.00 range these days. If you watch you can get a really nice one for about $550.00. I am with Jay on the Sigma. Nothing to write home about. 5 camera batteries are a good thing to have with the original 1D because they can run through a battery in less than 1000 shots but 3rd party batteries are cheap and last longer than the Canon. The 2x used is worth about $250 if it is a Canon Ext II, $175 if it is a Canon 2x and about $100 if it is anything else. Camera bags are a dime a dozen.
If you would really like the Sigma then offer $900.00 and be prepared to walk away if the seller turns you down. In today's economy that setup will not sell quickly. Wait a couple of weeks and then offer the $900 again.

One final thought.. If you already have lenses you like you can get a 1DMkII (non-N) for that price.

I would add one thing too... the 1D classic is a fine camera to be sure, but at 4 megapixels it is quite a step behind even modern rebels in terms of resolution. Add to that the fact that modern rebels have FAR FAR FAR superior noise, dynamic range, color, etc... I would suggest that it's not really worth buying one. I remember getting the 1Dsm2 for the first time and seeing how far noise in the shadows had come.
I would be afraid that you'll find yourself wanting with a lot of the results is all...

Agreed. You can do better with your $1100. The package deal sounds like some stuff you might not want thrown in to up the price and get rid of it all. Putting a 2x on that big of a zoom is not going to be pretty and who knows if you'll like the bag. The batteries are probably old and half might not hold a charge.

If you're looking for a "1D classic with 68K clicks, a 170-500mm Sigma, 2x tele converter, 5 camera batteries, and a camera bag", then I guess it's an ok deal. The question is, are those the EXACT items you are looking for? How will they help your photography business?
