All,
I just wanted to quickly post my experience with Sterlingtek and ordering a recent BP-511 replacement battery for my Digital Rebel. I ordered the battery yesterday morning, 3/23, via their toll free number. (The fact that they have a toll free number that they actually answer is pretty rare these days and having it staffed with friendly, helpful people is even more out of the ordinary) I asked for the two day shipment via FedEx (only $8.99 very reasonable) so that I would be sure and have access to the battery prior to the Easter holiday. The battery arrived THIS MORNING. So I basically received overnight shipping for less than 10 bucks hard to beat that. (I live in Idaho and they are based in New Mexico probably added to the quicker shipment.)
I was provided a tracking number this morning by Sterlingtek but only ended up tracking the shipment for an hour or so prior to delivery! This is one of the better service experiences that I have had well done Sterlingtek.
I also wanted to mention that there was some discussion that these cheaper generic batteries may not have the internal protection circuitry that the more expensive replacements have but the following statement was a part of the literature that came with my Sterlingtek battery:
The battery has built-in protection mechanisms that ensure safe operation. Never try to take it apart or modify it in any way. Damaging the protection mechanism creates the risk of overheating, fire and explosion.
Now I realize that the manufacturer can write anything they want on the sheet of paper but it does bode well at least for these Sterlingtek batteries that they have some protection circuitry like the more expensive options. I will charge it up tonight and see how things go. I would not hesitate to recommend www.sterlingtek.com for replacement battery orders.
$11.99 for an 1800mAh great deal.
