Excuse me while I drool. I really miss my STi and its Prodrive 310bhp.

I thrashed an old RA type C around the circuit and you would not believe my times. The old RA didn't have electric windows or many other niceties for that matter, and was stripped to the core. The owner wanted a racing licence holder to put it through its paces on a test day, which I did, and he then used it as a track day car. What a waste of some nice tin. Still, I had fun.

How's the new version?

Hi Ken,

New version is very nice. Three basic versions:

One gets delivered with 15 inch steel wheels fitted with crap rubber, electric nothing and two deckchairs for seats. i.e. this is the one you import then get converted to a group N rally car.

Other version has nice seats, minimal sound deadening, but you do get electirc windows but that is about it. Body shell is about 250% stiffer than the old RA and a simple software upgrade to ECU brings power up to around 300bhp and fit the exhaust as well sees around 320bhp and a big chunk of torque. You still get the roof scoop :)

Top version comes with all the toys, climate control, folding mirrors etc., but starts getting a bit lardy.

The car with some suspension work is a real B road weapon. It is a pure drivers car now, you couldn't live with one day to day if you had family to lug about. Well, you could, but they wouldn't be too happy. :)

Imprezas are great fun and nice to drive, but are pretty much wasted for track days. I can think of lots of cars that are faster on most tracks which are also cheaper. It is the B road in Wales, in the wet, in winter where the Scoob will show almost everything its heels.

Anyway, drool some more over here: http://www.litimports.co.uk/. :D :D

Cheers

I really wish we got a "Spec C" version of our USDM STi's. I have a USDM STi, but I love those wheels, that front lip, and the better suspension the C provides. Beautiful car!

Of course, since I've already ripped off one of my front splitters and loosened my front bumper in some "enthusiastic driving" on a very deep woods back road I guess the front lip probably wouldnt be good for me :D

Very nice!

Here are a couple STi's that I shot during an autocross in Mineral Wells, TX a few weekends ago:

Hi

What do you mean you can't use one on a day to day basis ;)

My Prodrive complete is not quite a "C" Spec but with two kids in the back and partner by my side I get no complaints but hey that is probably due to the fact that I cannot hear them :) :o :) :o :) :o :) :o :)

:)

No, the Spec "C" as it comes off the boat, well, you could live with it to be honest. But by the time our guys are done with it, it is a little louder and has enough torque to bury little Jonny through the back seat. :D

You would be surprised.

There were actually three of them in the unit today. And one of them went off with its new owner who is having it for a long term test. The guy is a journo for one of the bigger "quality" motoring monthly magazines in this country.

The trend in the UK is still for everyine to have the large saloons for day to day driving, but more and more people are going for a second car for the weekends/for fun. In addition, I would say well over 90% of cars in this country are 4 cylinders and 2 litre or less capacity and front wheel drive.

So, large and powerful rear wheel drives are sought after by those who really enjoy driving. And for that you need to look at the various sports cars or big engined imports. Hence the Mustang gets a look in as does the Holden Monaro (Australian).

I'm not to sure of the looks of the Mustang GT myself, but the noise you get certainly makes up for it. Oh, and when you are sat in it parked, just revving the engine causes the car to rock. :)

Cheers
