I tested that lens with my Digital Rebel and I liked the results I got (please note I'm NOT a professional). I ended up buying the 70-200 L because I wanted a faster lens.... but in terms of sharpness and color... that lens was good enough for me.

If you don't mind going international, you can do better on lenses thru places like B&H, deltainternational etc.

In general, it is cheaper to buy across the border and have it shipped to Canada, even with the shipping duties and taxes.
