Hi guys, I just took the tamron plunge after hearing all these good things about the lens! I was deciding between the Tamron, the sigma 24-70 F2.8 and the Canon 24-70L.
Initially i was leaning more towards the Sigma but then I saw all these praises for the Tamron. It would have been nice if the Tamron was alittle wider on the wide end, but i guess it didnt matter..
The Canon would be my first choice, if it didnt cost 3-4 times more than the Tamron! and I have heard that the Tamron is as sharp as the Canon in many cases and even sharper in some!
I just hope I don't get a bad lemon Tamron.
I will post 100 percent crop photos from my tamron once its in my hands. I will keep you guys updated and write a review and do a comparison between that lens and my current Canon 28-105 F3.5-4.5 lens.

Congratulations!!! I use a the 28-75 as well and it's on my camera 95% of the time. So far, this is a hobby for me and the Tamron provides more than enough image quality for my uses and abilities. Yes, the AF is a little slow (and noisy), especially in low-light, but nothing that I shoot requires ultra-fast anyways.
This is probably kinda corny, but you know what i love best about this lens? The lenscap! it's grips are designed so that you can easily remove and re-apply the lens cap when the hood is attached to the lens. I just thought that was the coolest thing. Don't know if other lens manuf do that also. Just shows how the simplest things can make people ultra-happy http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

It is a great little lens, specially at around f4 it does not get any sharper.

i got mine last Friday and after my first 50 pics I think it is great - very sharp, not too heavy and feels nice.

May yours work for you as well as mine has worked for me. Great optical quality, light weight, excellent value for the price, and -yes- a fabulous lens cap.
The cost difference between this and the 24-70L is enough to buy you another good lens on top of it.
Enjoy.

One of these is definetly in the future plans of my camera.
I love the sharpness of it. I spend a lot of my time reviewing lenses on pbase, and I checked out the Tamron. I noticed 90% of the images were just great, and super sharp.

This lens stays on my camera 80% of the time, replaced only by the 50mm F1.8 for low light or the 100mm macro for macros.

It would have been nice if the Tamron was alittle wider on the wide end, but i guess it didnt matter. That's my only complaint about this lens, and I'd say 90% of my indoor shots with this lens are at 28mm because that's all it's got. Other than that, I have no complaints at all. I thought about trading up to the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8, but I'm afraid I won't be as happy with it.

I am on my second tamron lens. 28-300 and 90mm macro. So far I am quite pleased with what I have gotten for the $$. Really thinking of getting the 28-75 2.8.

This lens lives on my camera too, only to be replaced with my 50/1.4 for low light and portrait shots. Love them both!!!

How much did you pay (spend) on this lens?
I am going to order Tamron as well to exchange my 28-105.
Any suggestion?
Many thanks in advance

I am highly considering to get a 24mm prime, and a 85mm prime.
Although the 28-75 f2.8 is nice; there are a lot of options out there also.

Get it from B&H. . . I believe there is also a $40 mail-in rebate going right now from Tamron. $369-$40=$329. Good deal!
I got my rebate within 3 weeks from Tamron a few months ago when they were doing the $30 on the 28-75
