If I'm going to be getting my first DSLR, Canon of course what lens do you recommend to a beginner? I like to shoot wildlife and people as my favorites.. I think I'm going to be getting either the Canon 300D, Canon D30 or D60.. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I recommend the D60 of your choices, followed by the 300D it is close though. More functions with D60, better auto focus with 300D.

As to lenses

First

then My personal choice would of course be start of with 50/1.8 (or if can afford better would be 50/1.4) or 28-135 IS. And then learn from them and then pick other lenses based on your needs. Although for wildlife you will probably need a longer lens to start with such as a 75-300.

Just my opinion,

A great starting lens for candids and wildlife would be a 70-200 f4L.

Check out my gallery of this lens here:

Although it is a bit expensive, it is actually well worth the price. Of course, if you are on a budget, you can always get the more versatile 28-135 IS (a little cheaper and not as long in the tele end).

And BTW, why not consider a used 10D?? They are priced almost the same as the old Rebel...................OK, I have one for sale in the marketplace ;-)
