So yesterday I broke a few trespassing laws (so I think) to take a pano of the city. I started with the 17-55 IS but it was taking to long and I had to take about 5-6 pictures of everything I wanted so I thought - huh let me take the 10-22 and just take 3 - so it worked and I was happy.
I came home and try to stitched then only to find out I was wrong and it did not work, i guess the barrel distortion is to much for PS to stitch the pictures - I'm mad as hell because the one with the 17-55IS came out good but I cut the last picture off because my stupid IDEA - I can always go back and re-shoot but my question is - can I some how fix the ones I took?
If so how can I correct the distortion enough for PS to do it's magic? thanks guys.
I know my grammar is horrible, but I hope you guys understood me and can help ..

Crop each image very carefully -- with proper alignments -- before attempting to stitch. Hope you took the images in Manual with exactly identical exposures...

Alternatively, try different software: PTGui (http://www.ptgui.com/) or Hugin (http://hugin.sourceforge.net/).

I second the recommendation of hugin. It did a nice stitching job on a couple of problem panos for me.

You may be able to save the 17-55 shot by streatching/warping the 10-22 portion to fit the missing shot. It wouldn't be without compramise but may work for ya.
I'll third diffrent stiching software, often times what won't work in one will work in another. I find they (stiching programs)can be very tempermeantal.

Hmm i have never shot wider than 17mm on my 400D, distoritons in each singal frame are thanfully very minimal.
I find that if i'm shooting a panoramic, i will take about 12 shots to cover 180 degrees, i find that with this amount when i use the Photomerge fucntion in photoshop and set it Cylindrical persepctive, the panoramic comes out perfect with all the natural horizonal line distortions you will get. and with your vertical ones staying vertical :)
All i can think of is like has been said above, try and corrrect the perpective of the shots using software (not the best method IMO) In future try not to shoot wider than 17mm, just takee more frames, it will pay off in the end. :D
Example of 14 frames covering 180 degrees...

thanks man - this is the only shot I salvage and that was using the 17-55mm IS but as you can see I'm missing part of the bridge and I still have a skew on the left. The others were all shot at 10mm and they just dont stick at all! :(
