Back in 2004 I had a 1st generation Digital Rebel..a 18-55 kit lens and a cheapo ($149 US) Quantaray 70-300 macro lens. I got the notion to play around with water and along with a cheapo closeout ($15 US) Vivitar swivel flash and a couple of..again..cheap ($20 US each) Quantaray slave flashes.

I came up with a few cool shots of water flowing over things..dropping things in water and so on.

Here's one that I like.

I did a little contrast tweaking in Lightroom to bring out some detail.

Forgive the white line on the bottom..it was a border skirmish ..heh

I forgot to mention that this was shot with that old digital rebel with the Quantaray 70-300 lens zoomed in with the swivel flash bounced off of the ceiling to trigger the two small slave flashes.

I think it looks great. Expensive equipment doesn't guarantee a great shot, only if you know how to use it does it improve your shot.
