I just had to show it off here!!!:)

Ok, I've been real busy for a while building a web site for our local camera club.. Ist we had to get the members to agree then decide what we wanted and get someone willing to give it a try. Well I raised my hand and got chosen:) After a lot or research I decided on Yahoo and the Yahoo site builder. I was supprised how easy it turned out to be, but it still takes a lot of time to get it done. It is finally online with 2 pages still being worked on. How about give it a look and any comments to improve it would be appreciated.

Now if I could get all you guys to join our club funding would be secure. :) :) :)

Looks pretty darn sweet! It also looks like a lot of work went into it, I'd say.

The page displays for me strangely, though. I'm using Firefox, and the text displays on the left side and then suddenly flips to being centered on the page. Strange. It might be better - from my perspective - to just leave it left-justified.

It really does look great though!

Hmmm... Same thing with Internet Explorer....

Yeah, looks like you're using some (DHTML?) functions to move the objects into the center of the page. It might work just fine with

tags, and save the overhead of the scripting.

Ok you lost me. :) I wouldn't have a clue how to use the

. I used Yahoo site builder and it gives option to center page. It views ok on my PC with firefox and IE so I am now confused and thats not hard to do. Lets see if others have a problem. Thanks for the reply !!!!!!!!!

Ok Scottes, I went back to the site and it does jump from left to center but not every time. It only did it once in a while for me. I will take that up with Yahoo..
Thanks

Excelent looking site.

What is that strange yellow and black thing in the top left hand corner, it looks like it has a piece of plastic with square holes in it sticking out of it

FYI...a little of topic....

There is going to be an art show (sculptures, painting, photography, performance art, etc.) on April 9th at Alley Katz in Richmond. You guys should check it out.

Maybe we will run into each other there.

Yes, I agree with Scott. Best to leave it left justified. Otherwise, the repositioning of the buttons can get very annoying after a while. It does it when resizing the window, too.

But other than that, the site looks pretty cool. You did a great job with it. :D

Neil, I don't see whatever you are seeing. Thank you guys for the compliments. I contacted Yahoo and they say something is wrong but they don't know what at this time. They are working on it. Hopefully they will fix'd soon, it is agrivating. It didn't start off that way. It worked right for 2 hours. I feel it looks better centered but I will left justify if Yahoo can't fix it.

Thanks

Jerry

I use Safari and it jumped my first time through but now it is in my cache it does not. That thing in the top left corner is a old roll of 35mm film and a canister case. Where did you find one of those. I thought they were extinct.

Looks great Jerry. This is a great accomplishment. It worked just fine for me using IE6.0

I see it too - it looks like it has holes in it that might fit some kind of sprocket. ;)

Site looks great, Jerry!

nice site Jerry, I think it's well done.

One thing I'd like to mention though. That "visitor count" thingie on the bottom left of the site. Does anyone actually look at those things? I wouldn't use one. But that's a matter of personal pref.
Looks cool though.

Keep it up ;)

Thanks for the compliment. I kinda agree but we need to justify the web site use to the membership of the club and that is one way. :)

That will work but we really did it to draw members so just check it and send $20 :) :) :) that would work better :) :) :) You could be a long distance remote menber with full remote privilages and benefits!! We will even post one of your pictures on our front page!! Maybe when we get our digital projector you could participate in the by-monthly evaluation, just e-mail the pic's you want to enter we show them at the meeting and we will give you feed back :):):)

Promises of a digital projector aren't too enticing.

Now, if you happened to get an Optech strap with a "Camera Club of Richmond" logo on it....

After lots of comments I made a ton of changes. I would appreciate any comments... Scottes, I turned of the center command and moved the page to the center to start with that helped a bunch on loading, thanks. Yahoo couldn't help. They said I just had to live with it jumping from left to center. :? should I tell them :)

Thanks for any comments

Well that looks extremely good, and the load was **very** quick. A huge improvement!

But I see some of the graphics displayed at the very bottom of the page, far below the bottom of the screen when it first loads. The black bar that used to be behind the buttons is now displayed down the bottom. And I see 2 more copies (different sizes) of the pic with the film and film canisters.

Both Internet Explorer and Firefox do this.

Hahahahahaha :) :) :)

Yep when I removed them, I put them there until I was sure I didn't want them back. I guess I can delete the trash now :) You weren't supposed to check out after the "end of Page" msg :)

Thanks for looking and commenting

Hi Jerry ,

Site looks good ! I see your club uses PSA guidelines for competitions. Is your club a member of the PSA ? If it is you should send in the site listing so it can be listed on the PSA database.

Thanks Lisa, Yes we are a member and we are listed but not with a web site yet. I sent it in this week.

It looks good - no problem with Netscape 7.2
Now if I could get all you guys to join our club funding would be secure. You'd have to rename it the "L" Club!:D

Site looks great. No problems with Safari or IE for Mac.
