I have been doing lots of reading here, thought I might post a pic. I am just learning about my camera and am already dreaming of a better one as right now I only have an A85. Would love some CC on this pic so I can keep learning. I usually take people pics, was nice to have a still subject for a change.
Attempting to shoot manual. f8, 1/2000.
Straight out of the camera, no PS

I agree, very interesting shot.
The water droplets are a great effect. I can imagine many situations where it might be used.

Very good shot, well done! Personally I would like to see less depth of field which draws the viewer into the subject. Try taking the shot of the flower at the lowest f-stop your camera will go to which will blur the background.

Love to see how you get on!

Wow, thank you for all the great feedback.
Would you believe I shot this pic in my bathroom, in my bathtub, in the dark. I had my flash set to 1/2, f.8, 1/2000 even tho my camera would not let me, I think it shot at 1/500 onthe macro setting. I sprayed the water from the faucet with one hand while holding the camera with the other. I hate tripods. I am still trying to force myself to shoot manual although I am not entirely sure this would be the best camera for this. ( I want a Drebel)My usual suspect is only 2 years old and I am having a hard time shooting manual getting any kind of focused pic? For now I am shooting in AV. I would love some suggestions for settings for lil people that never sit still. Flowers are not usually my thing but I thought this was a neat shot. I prefer natural light and this picture was the first I was ever happy with using a flash.
Thank you again for your replies. It is much appreciated.

Lisa1969,

Good flower photo.

As far as getting 2 year olds to sit still, maybe when they are asleep. But the flash should provide "stop action" for even the fastest kid.

I just cannot get used to the tripod. But mostly cuz my usual victim is a 2 yr old boy, a tripod feels like a ball&chain. LOL.

Thank you again for your replies. It is much appreciated.Try Tv mode, 1/200 - 1/250 for the little one. Be prepared to get down and dirty.
