View Full Version : Another Free Photo Hosting Site Question

I have a Smugmug account that I don't want to load up with hundreds of my kids' team sports photos. The HS Cross Country coach had her own personal site (Snapfish) where I loaded photos, and then for a couple other sports I loaded them up on Dotphoto accounts I had created.

The problem with both of those sites is the lack of ability for the kid's to view or download full size images. I have looked at some other free hosting sites (Photobucket, Flickr, etc.) but have been unable to determine the limits. The only place I have found that can do full size is Yahoo!Groups. Yep, really. I run a couple Groups, and in the Photos section the image size is unlimited, best as I can tell. 100GB max total, which is plenty, but it is slow and cumbersome to upload. 5 photos at a time, and it takes a LONG time to do each set. Ughh.

Any recommendations?

TIA!!

You didnt say if you would be willing to pay for the site? I think flickr is fine for what you say, although you would have to buy the pro account which is cheap enough. I think they have taken off the limit on montly uploads now, and i think they recently lifted the block on loading Tiff images, but i could be wrong on that one.
The good thing about flickr is that the people on the sports teams could sign up their own accounts for free, add you as a contact and receive automatic updates when new photos are loaded. In addition you could organise different sports in to different sets and then group sets into a collection forming a sort of archive.
In terms of loading multiple images there are many 3rd part programs out there that will allow you to load large batches at a time.
In regard to full size images, they can access those by clicking all sizes then choosing the largest resolution.

Hope this helps.

'Tis in the Title (Free). :)

Free to me is preferred, though absolutely necessary, but it must be free to the team. The problem with Flickr is only Pro Accounts holders can access the originals.
