I bought a pair of generics off e-bay that have a higher mah rating and they work great. I've had more problems with the Canon brand batteries than the generics. Could just be my luck (or lack thereof), though.

Kiernan,
Who did you buy from on ebay? I just bought 4 1800mAh BP-511 batteries from biglotcell off ebay for $19 plus $9.50 for shipping, recieved them last tuesday and only one of the three were any good. The 3 bad ones seem fully charged when put on the charger but wont even power my cameras at all. I contacted the seller and he is sending out 3 replacements, but now I have to go through the hassel of sending the 3 bad ones back. I hope this guy makes things right with the replacements but what the hell kind of quality control is that, seems pretty bad to me.

I would like to know of a reputable seller on ebay.

This Sterlingtek sounds good. The price is right and it sounds like the camera is protected.

Why bother with ebay when there are so many positive reviews of sterlingtek products and service?

I bought mine from geekscity. They have 2 of them for buy-it-now of 12.99. For 6.50 a battery, even if they only last a year, you're still saving money over the Canon brand. I bought the same deal in January and they're working great.

Hi, I've bought two different non-OEM BP-511 batteries for my digital rebel and they've worked fine. I needed two additional spare sets for my BG-E1 battery grip since it holds two batteries and looked for the cheapest ones I could find. I bought from eBAY and Overstock.com. I paid $19.99 US each on Overstock.com and about $9.99 US each on eBAY. I've even bought battery chargers from eBAY and have had no problems. Most non-OEM parts that are available for this camera are pretty decent quality and come from China. I've had good luck with my purchases, I hope you do, too.
