Got up early this morning, found a pretty good spot. 7 different raw files (between 30 sec and .5 sec) merged in photomatix and then adjusted curves and sharpened in cs3. I think I might try this spot again in the evening on a weeknight where there would be lots of cars. The car light trails aren't very good IMO as there weren't many cars. C&C appreciated.

Edit: Removed the old version from my flicker, this is the updated cropp. JP

Thanks for the comments, I'm really happy with the colors and clarity of the picture. The composition looked a little off, needed a tad more sky and a tad less road. (Also cropped to a 10x8 ratio for printing) I think this one looks a little better. Agree? Disagree?

Nice ... very nice!

What were the original shooting values (aperture, ISO, etc)? ... and what lens did you use for the original shots?

Nice shot. Forty years ago, when I was a kid, we go on school trips to the top of the Foshay Tower, the tallest building downtown. It's the dinky building to left of center with the single, tall antenna. Probably have some old Kodak Instamatic shots from the Foshay hiding out in a shoebox somewhere.

Thanks for the comments.

As far as settings it was shot at f11, 7 shots rangning from 30-15-6-3.2-2-1-.5 seconds. Used a tripod with mirror lockup and timer. It worked out good as it was a pedestrian bridge with no cars. I've found that bridges that allow cars vibrate a lot when cars go over which ruins the shots.

Intriguing, inspiring photo; beautiful depiction of a city... energy and stillness make an interesting contrast.

Looks good -- just saw another picture from this same spot, but that one was at night. I like the daylight picture better IMO.

Very Nice, and time of day. I like less sky unless it's very dramatic.
Good point with using bridges that can vibrate.

I was out when it was 20 below at 4 am to Noon trying to get shots of the Mpls city skyline, and froze to death. It's a difficult city to shoot with river in the way. A tour to different upper level parking ramps were tried, but views were limited or blocked.

This view is looking South from service road at sunrise in front of U of M near the Engineering building and bridge.
