I am part of a small company that fixes digital cameras, generally the lower end, point and shoot models of most cameras.

Our main product are Canon SD series lenses, and we have run into a recurring problem with many camera models, including the SD850, and other larger type lenses.

Our problem is some of the lenses we get in from our supplier need to be adjusted somehow. On the SD850 lens especially, we'll get them in perfect condition, but when they start up and begin their autofocus, they will either stop working, or they will not focus correctly.

We've been told there is either a "CCD adjustment" or a "Fine-focus adjustment" and we can't seem to figure out where and how.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you

Just curious, are you not replacing them with the same Canon parts? If not, then I am not surprised there is a problem, and I would bet a dollar it has something to do with the chips they use to control them. Your parts are not sending the information the body chipset needs to function. Same thing happens with aftermarket EF lenses, they never work as good as the Canon brands and Canon is not giving out the inofrmation to the competition. A best guess, is the best the aftermarket makers can do. Which is what I am doing to answer the question. :)

These lenses are pulled from Canon cameras, but sometimes the lenses we get in from customers only have this issue with the lens and nothing else, and these are OEM Canon lenses.

AFAIK, there are no aftermarket Canon SD lenses we use, everything is Canon only.

OK, I'm out of guesses then. Maybe the answer is in the Canon shop manual, which is probably impossible to get.
