I'm new here and testing my image posts. I took this shot last Saturday at Houston Arboretum and Nature Center. Setting was set to TV/Monochrome with natural light on an XTi. Image re-sized to 1024.

Comments welcome. :)

needs more contrast and sharpening, and ... for this particular shoot... don't look at the camera

Don't ever shoot in BW; you have no control over the contrast and other aspects of the BW. Instead, shoot in color and convert to black and white in photoshop.

+1. You throw away a ton of information when you let the camera tell you what it thinks black and white should look like. Composition isn't bad, but I'd probably go a little wider if it were me.

I plan to go back on location and will consider using the 50D this time. Thanks. Awesome suggestions!!!
