CANON VS PANASONIC [Archive] - Canon Digital Photography Forums

I am looking for a long zoom lense camera with Image Stabilization & have it narrowed down to two; (1) Canon PowerShot SI 1S; (2)Panasonic DMC-FZ3. I can get either on Saturday for $499.00 canadian. Any opinions on which one for my first digital camera purchase, thanks.

Those Panasonic Lumix cameras are pretty nice. But so is the Canon.. try to find them in a place you can hold them. The Panasonics are a little larger.

Have the S1 and really like ti, but have heard much good about the Panasonic lumix as well. Both are point and shoot so you will not have to invest in lens, etc - so you can always graduate to a Canon SLR when ready!
