I bought a Canon 40D last year in April and I'm still dissastified with the results. I am getting more or less 2 decent pictures out of 200.
I know, I know...photographers faults aside, I cannot get a decent focus. I spent 4 hours on Sunday testing it again, I tried Af, manual focus,handheld,tripod...the works. Not one picture with a decent focus.
I have the kit lens 17-85mm and two Sigma lenses, 70-300 amd 28-300.
I tried all lenses with the same poor results. I have yet to try a fixed lens.
I have cleared all user's settings and tried with the original camera settings, etc.
Before taking it to Canon personally (and I will take a few photo samples) I am going to ask a "Canon user" professional photographer tonight at my local Photo Club to take it and test it for me.
This is taking the joy out of picture taking for me as it it's becoming very frustrating.
My basic background on photography - amateur, 4 photography courses at a Photo College, read numerous books on the subject (including Understanding exposure), member of a Alberton Camera Club where I went from a 1 star to 3 star in 5 months, 1 Photography Salon acceptance. So...not a really beginner as such.
Please try and shed some light on the subject.
