I love that photo, where were you standing to take the shot ?

Great shot, although I think I might have preferred a color version. This B&W conversion has a lot of pure black in the wave and there isn't a very sharp distinction between the spray on top of the wave and the clouds in the sky. Do you have the color version on you? Also, I'd be very interested to learn about your gear and how you take these shots.

I think it would be more dramatic if it were tilted the other direction. The tilt leads the eye to believe the wave was falling away, when in reality (and for the sake of art) it was more dramatic and actually coming towards you (and the viewer).

Great capture of the wave. The sky is too monotonous and - as Huey mentions - insufficiently distinct from the wave. I guess from the watermark and general treatment that you're competent or better with post-processing, so to suggest you select the sky separately and increase the gradient in Curves is probably useless: I imagine you would have already done it if the image allowed. I wouldn't rush for colour though... I like the B&W. May be worth some time cloning, dodging, burning - whatever it takes to sort out the sky.
Cheers, Tony

Whoah! Click and run? or Click and duck? Nice capture. It's a very powerful shot. The only problem is the tonal merger of the wave crest and the clouds as was mentioned above by Huey and Tony. IF you could fix that it would be a great shot.

I agree with the distinctness and I think it could be a little brighter as well. Seems a little underexposed to me.

Thanks for all the replies, I was just swimming around in the shorebreak with my camera in a waterhousing. www.splwaterhousings.com
