View Full Version : iView Media Pro - Viewing magnification settings?

Just done my first day shoot with my 20d and then iView started to annoy me.

I shot in RAW + JPEG LargeFine all day, then dumped the resulting images into iView Media Pro.

When flicking through the images the JPEGS show up larger in the right hand 'Media' window, so I click the '-' zoom out button, then the next image down in the list is the RAW file, which now shows up too small, so I hit the '+' button, and then move onto the next JPEG file, and so on and so on....

Two questions:

Why do the RAW files show up smaller in the 'Media' window than the JPEGs?

Is there a setting I am missing, so I can tell iView to show all JPEGs at one magnification and all RAW files at another?

Thanks all.

The RAW files have thumbnails already built into them. So, when MediaPro comes across one of these files, it saves itself the trouble of creating a thumbnail by just using the embedded thumbnail. If an image does not contain any embedded thumbnails, then MediaPro has to create it from scratch. That's the reason the two different kinds of thumbnails could be of different sizes. If you want all the thumbnails to be the same size, you have to tell MediaPro to ignore the embedded thumbnails and create it's own copy of it. That way, you'll have thumbnails of equal sizes. The only drawback is that MediaPro has to create a thumbnail for each and every image in the catalog and this takes time and CPU processing.

For more details about this and how to tell MediaPro not to use the embedded thumbnail, refer to the MediaPro users guide, pages 20 and 14.
