Here's another of my night exposures from London. This one is St. Paul's Cathedral.

If anyone has doubts about how sharp the Canon 17-40mm "L" lens is, this image should put their mind at rest.

Enjoy!

I was really amazed with the sharpness, too.

I had read comments from people who claimed the Canon 17-40mm f/4 "L" lens is a bit soft. That's definitely not my experience.

I also own a Canon 20-35mm EF lens. My daughter uses it with her D300. I always found it to be a terrific lens. I used it in Scotland a few years ago and loved it. It's much lighter than the 17-24mm.

I never bought the Canon 16-35mm "L". It's faster, but I found the 20-35mm EF to be sharper. When Canon came out with the 17-40mm, I compared it with the 20-35mm and found the image quality was excellent.

I'm pleased you like the image. :)

Cheers,

Mitch

I have the 17-40L also and it is sharp. May I ask what process you use or if you sharpen after you take the picture?
